PHOENIX (March 27, 2019) – Most people find food made from “scratch” as being tastier and healthier. This is probably the reason so many remember the meals their mothers or grandmothers served during the holidays. Civitan Foundation is having a special sale of “homemade” food items just in time for the Easter holiday on April 18 and 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Civitan Village, 12635 N. 42nd Street.
The Civitan Foundation Spring Marketplace will feature a variety of ready-to-eat foods made by adults with developmental disabilities who are employed in the foundation’s Cook-er-y culinary program. The Cook-er-y is a unique culinary program where adults with developmental disabilities work under the direction of a highly trained chef to learn food preparation and kitchen skills.
Items available for sale at the Civitan Spring Marketplace, as well as available to pre-order online, are: jars of pickled jalapenos, pickled peppers, pickled mushrooms; small and large jars of strawberry and raspberry jams, sun-dried tomatoes and flavored butters. There will also be baked items: quiche, scones, chocolate chip cookies and triple chocolate brownies available for purchase. Orders for baked items will be accepted up to April 17. All items are available while supplies last.
To order in advance, up to April 17, email culinary@campcivitan.org or call 602-953-2944. You may also go to www.civitanfoundationaz.org to see prices and the entire list of items for sale.
